Departed Charleston this morning about 10am. I was woken at 4.30am by a thunderstorm! Haven't heard one at that hour in the morning for years... Drove south on the 17 for part of the way, then joined the I-95 (interstate). Max. speed 70mph in some places - 4 lanes wide - beauuuutiful! We drove past Savannah, Georgia; then crossed the border into the state of Florida. It was the best part of 5 hours to get to St Augustine.These photos are just two of the interesting sights along the way - the RV towing a pretty pink car; and a Fire & Rescue vehicle - with a canoe on top - marine rescue???
Had an interesting lunch stop at Exit 94 when we went to 'Waffle House' and a lovely, young African-American man served us, with increasing curiosity until finally he asked, 'Where y'all from?' When we said, 'Australia,' he was full of questions and ever so hospitable!
You guys continue to cover the country in huge chunks every day...no wonder you need some waffles as a reward.
