Labour Day

Monday, 6 Sept was Labour Day in the USA. Big sale day at all the shops, especially the outlets. We're suffering a bit from jetlag, and had a restless night. David woke me at 9am! as he woke up too - we had to get dressed and scurry down for breakfast which was to finish at 10! Then we wanted to get to Leesburg Corner premium outlets early, to get started on the sales.... We arrived at 11 and the carpark was already jammed - we luckily found a grassy area to park on in our beautiful Chevy Impala (pictured). There were 104 shops to check out! It was busy, busy, busy with people of all nationalities talking 10 to the dozen. We literally 'shopped til we dropped' - I was exhausted - we left about 4pm. We then sat in traffic with everyone else leaving the shops..... Found our way to a supermarket called 'Wegmans' for a new shopping experience. This is where I sat in the car for the photo. OMG! It was HUGE! David found the 'Craft Beer' aisle and then had to phone Jim for some beer advice because there were too many to choose from!! Scarlet was in 'sensory overload' as she wandered through the fresh food & bakery area - so many options for buying fresh food (eg clams!) bakery (eg triple chocolate mousse slice) and prepared meals (eg Chinese, Thai, hot chooks) - it had to be seen to be believed! With some trepidation, we selected 'Leinenkugel Sunset Wheat' beer (seasonal) $9 a six-pack and Scarlet found a bottle of Sangiovese for $9 and a 12 bottle pack of Bud Lite (Lime) beer for $12.49! Can't wait to go back! Might have to sneak a photo or two!

  1. Being able to buy beer in a supermarket is very progressive...no prohibition there!

Do you do any of the left-hand driving Scarlet...or is this your husband's domain? I bet he doesn't even have to think about it anymore.

  2. Dave does all the driving.... he's getting back into the swing of it - had to help him the first day or so! It costs more to have a second driver insured and it kinda suits me not to drive because I have an 'M' on my license (medical condition) and I don't want to invite any hassles with insurance companies if we were to make a claim.... so I program and read the GPS!!!
